This opening will be Efren’s first major exhibit outside Lakeside and Guadalajara.

DAY ONE: On our
way to Melaque we stop first at a popular seafood restaurant along the
DAY TWO: At we go to Barra de Navidad, a short distance from Melaque, for breakfast at restaurant over-looking the bay. Afterwards there is time to explore the many shops and stroll along the beachfront. You may enjoy having lunch at one of the restaurants in town. Back to the hotel for the afternoon. At we leave for La Manzanilla, thirty minute drive, for the Efren’s opening at the prestigious “Gallaria La Manzanilla” in La Manzanilla. Following the show we go to a lovely palapa restaurant on the beach for dinner. Then back to Melaque.
DAY THREE: At 10:00 AM breakfast will be served at our hotel. The day is yours to relax on the beach or in a hammock at the hotel or to explore the area. Arrangements can be made for fishing, kayaking or hiking. In the afternoon Sangria and fruits will be served. In the evening we return to Barra de Navidad for dinner.
DAY FOUR: After a light breakfast of fruits, sweets and coffee we head off to a village at the base of the Colima volcano. Here we have brunch under coffee trees in an old coffee plantation. Following brunch we visit one of the great mask makers who is represented in the book “Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art.” We return to Ajijic around .
EFREN GONZALES: Biographical Notes
Efren Gonzalez was born in Ajijic, Jalisco on
Efren has studied with many well-known art teachers such as Antonio Cardenas, B.R. Kline (international painter), Maestro Luis Eduardo Gonzalez (watercolorist), Kent Clark (sculptor) and Juan Navarro (etching).
Efren is constantly working to broaden his artistic knowledge. Although he has most recently been working on large mural paintings, he continues to work and exhibit in watercolor, oil on canvas, pastel and acrylic. He has become one of the most recognized painters in the Ajijic Art Colony, as well as in surrounding communities and cities.
Mural painting is the form of expression that Efren finds
most gratifying. His most important
mural to date was commissioned by the government of the City of
Efren continues to reside in the town of his birth, Ajijic, with his wife Reyna and their three children Leonardo, Paula Regina and Zyanya.
