Two years ago Jim and Linda Rambo began to help with the Monday Comida Team. Gradually, they became more attached to the kids and this year decided to get more involved. You might say they jumped from comida into the “deep end.” This summer the Rambos have scheduled a series of pool parties, inviting the kids from three dormitories to their home in La Cristina to swim.
The first party was held Saturday July 21 for the young boys’ dorm. Overseen by their hosts and staff house mother, Cleo, eleven boys were able to spend the afternoon frolicking in the pool. With numerous toys, floats, water wings and beach ball, the boys practiced football kicks from within the pool and in dives over it. They also enjoyed a typical American style barbeque with hotdogs, beans, chips, water melon and brownies for dessert. Several of their godparents were able to join the fun and watch their charges play.
The next pool party on August 4 will be for the young girls. An August 18 party will be for the older girls. In addition, this couple obtained Satellite Systems of Ajijic (Mike Merryman, Mario Jiménez, Cruz Heredia and team) to get donated TV's up and running with DVD and VHS players in three dormitories. Thanks to the Rambos and SSA for diving in!
