Back Row: Joselyn, Fernanda and Miriam; Front Row: Odeth and Jordan; Inset left: Bryan
Six of the Center’s school age kids earned “A” grades (between 9 and 10.) The highest grade of all was earned by Miriam who arrived at the Center two years ago after being abandoned by her mother. She has done well in school ever since she arrived and this year earned a grade of 9.7.
Jordan arrived at the Center just last December and immediately insisted that he be enrolled in January at the same school where he had attended in the fall. Not only did Jordan excel this term with a 9.6 average, but he also has done well in extra English classes and a special Pet Training seminar. Bryan, who was struggling in several subject areas, moved his grades up from failing to a 9.1 this past semester with the help of volunteer tutor Joyce Lawrence.
Others “A” achievers were Fernanda with a 9.5, Odeth with a 9.3 and Joselyn who graduated from Junior High this year with a 9.0.
Another 5 students ended up with B grades (from 8 to 9.) With these excellent results, competition is now growing among Center students to earn better grades.
At the end of this school year, 4 students graduated from Kindergarten, 1 from Primary School, and 1 from Junior High.
