MEXICO CITY: OCTOBER 2011
October 19 - 21
This year we decided to make a two day stopover en route to Santiago and visit some of the sites in Mexico City. We stayed at the Room Mate Valentina Hotel in Zona
Rosa which was most modern and comfortable.
The hotel was just off the Reforma and close to the "Angel" column celebrating Mexican independence. The city is alive with modern exciting architecture and art.
They were planting marigolds in the median of Reforma in honor of the upcoming Day of the Dead celebrations. We enjoyed Raffaelo's and El Fugio Restaurants
on our two night stay in Mexico City.
We took a taxi out to Polonco, another upscale area, where we ate at Brassi Café and at El Zorzal, an Argentine Restaurant.
Also in Polanco is the new Moliere Plaza Mall with many high end stores already decorated for Christmas in October.
Then on to the main reason for our stop in Mexico City, the Sous Maya Museum built by and for the eclectic collections of multi-millionaire Carlos Slim.
