PUERTA VALLARTA MEXICO
Hotel Tropicana and Four Seasons Hotel
August 2-7, 2010

Thanks to Toronto friends Betty and George, we were given a Wedding present of a Gift Certificate for two nights at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Punta Mita just north of Puerta Vallarta. But to begin our stay on the Pacific, we first drove into old town Puerta Vallarta to stay at the Tropicana Hotel on Los Muertos Beach and to visit friends there.

Our room was an ocean front suite with two double beds, tables and chairs and great views.

On our first day we relaxed at the Blue Chairs on the beach next door where we got a wrist band made for our godson Dany and Robin got too much sun even seated under a palapa.

On Wednesday Marsha took us once again to the Vallarta Botanical Gardens down the coastal highway well past Mismaloya.

After a great time seeing old friends Jenny, Bob and Carolyn as well as Marsha, we drove north back up the coast to Punta Mita to claim our three days and two nights at the Four Seasons. Needless to say it was a spectacular visit.

Our room in the Flor section was indeed luxurious with all the amenities and a great view down to the pool and beyond to the ocean.

The huge infinity pool was situated above the ocean with adjacent hot tubs, bars and restaurant. Cool towels and short fruit drinks were complementary.

One fun adventure was the Lazy River, a pool with slow moving water that surrounded the Oasis Casita building. We enjoyed the ride around as much as the many families and kids there.

Later in the day we discovered the quieter Manzanillas Beach with shade trees and a hammock for a sunburnt Robin and raised shaded cabanas for both.

On both evenings we ate at the excellent Asian Fusion Aramara Restaurant. The first night we shared wonderful sushi and then both tried the excellent roast duck. The second night we experimented with the "Hot Rock" appetizer with thin beef strips which we cooked on a hot black rock. Jim then ordered the duck again and Robin tried the fish of the day, Amber Jack. We were treated to a wonderful sunset over the ocean and the lights on the Lobby glowed magically on our walk back to our room. A lovely ending to a wonderful gift stay. Thanks again Betty and George.
