The Rev. Deborah Vaughan was our Officiant for the non religious ceremony that we had written ourselves.
Our first reading by Peter was from Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Luis Bernieres. We then recited the same vows that we had made
to each other at our unofficial "Union Ceremony" in Philadelphia at St. Clement's Church on this same date in 1975.
Our rings were once again blessed before we exchanged the same rings that we have worn since June 14, 1975.
Next we performed the traditional Mexican Lasso ceremony with friends Lynn and Jim placing a loop over each of our shoulders.
Our second reading by our hostess Sandy
was Touched by an Angel by Maya Angelou, before our lassos were removed by Derek and Merelyn.
After final words from Rev. Deb, Jim thanked our many hosts who had entertained us over the past month, Robin introduced his family
and Jim introduced many old friends who had come from afar, including the couple that introduced us in 1973.
Hal and Tom then were invited to come forward and act as our witnesses as we all signed our Marriage Certificate while Mae sang again.
The ceremony ended with the traditional kiss and then the Rev. Rick Civilier, a longtime friend and colleague of Jim's,
delivered the champagne toast to the newly married couple.
